Where To Eat In Isla Holbox

When you arrive at a new destination, do you already know where you want to dine or do you leave it to chance and hope to stumble upon a great eatery?

If you're anything like us you probably plan ahead of time. We spend hours scrolling through Instagram, Pinterest and Google for food inspo weeks before we even pack our suitcases.

We thought it would be handy to give you a run down of our top restaurants for breakfast, lunch and dinner in Isla Holbox. So stop searching, you've come to the right place!

BREAKFAST:

Painapol Holbox - This vegan friendly breakfast and brunch spot is a must! They are known for serving up healthy smoothie bowls and the best coffee. We tried the avocado toast, acai bowl and their freshlly squeezed fruit juices.

Kukatch - Fresh catches are grilled up throughout the day, alongside generously heaped nachos and other light bites, and they serve a great breakfast too. We ordered the delicious French toast and the Chilaquiles were to die for!

Le Jardin - This cute French bakery is the place to be if you want freshly baked croissants and pastries.

LUNCH:

Roots - This unique and colorful Pizza parlor where the cracking of blazing red fire-wood slowly blend multiple ingredients into a perfect harmony of smoky flavors. Famous for Holbox Island’s most representative dish the “Lobster Pizza”.

Las Nubes - If you are looking for a unique meal with an incredible view, this is the spot for you. We tried the hummus appetizer and delicious authentic beef tacos.

Fresco Bar & Grill - This barefoot beach bar and restaurant serves up bright flavors with the finest ingredients - from healthy smoothies to grilled specialties. The Auga Chile, lobster pizza and shrimp pasta were our personal favorites.

DINNER:

Luuma - Described as a magical oasis, this modern boho-chic bar and restaurant captures the laid-back spirit of the island. The shrimp empanada, the incredible meat board and the decadent Choco Blue dessert are a must!

Mandarina Seaside Restaurant - The smell of the freshly baked bread and view of the ocean will draw you to this seafront fine-dining restaurant. We feasted on Huitlacoche Brioche, a traditional French bread filled with mushrooms and parmesan cheese, and the Rib Eye Steak which was cooked to perfection.

Salma - This contemporary tavern is described as a fire kitchen and mystical pirate bar. We loved the ambience here and everything that came out of the wood-fired grill smelled divine! We tried the Smoked Beet Salad & Wood Fired Skirt Steak and both dishes did not disappoint!

BEACH BARS:

Las Nubes de Holbox - is a MUST! For only $36 you can purchase a day pass which includes a $30 credit towards food and beverages.

Alma Bar - If you want to sip on a cocktail (or two) on a rooftop while watching the sunset this is the place to be!

La Palapa - Cocktails in the hand and toes in the sand. You get both at La Palapa, right on Holbox village’s main beach.
