When most people picture Exuma, they immediately think of luxury villas, private beaches, and huge resorts with jaw dropping turquoise water. And yes, Exuma absolutely has those things. But after spending time at Peace & Plenty Resort in May 2026, we realized there is another side of Exuma that deserves way more attention.
This resort feels authentic.
Not overly polished. Not pretentious. Just classic Bahamas charm in one of the best locations on the island.
Monty and I stayed in one of their newly remodeled oceanfront rooms, and for the two of us, it was honestly perfect. Every morning we woke up to panoramic harbor views, boats floating across Elizabeth Harbour, and that peaceful quiet feeling that somehow makes time slow down in Exuma.
If you are looking for a massive all inclusive resort experience, this may not be your style. But if you want a relaxed island stay with personality, history, incredible beach access, and a location that makes exploring easy, this place checks a lot of boxes.
Why We Chose Peace & Plenty
One of the biggest reasons we booked Peace & Plenty was the location in George Town. We wanted to be close to restaurants, excursions, beach bars, grocery stores, and the harbor instead of feeling isolated at a resort far away from everything.
And honestly, we loved that decision.
You can walk around George Town, grab dinner nearby, hop on tours easily, and quickly access some of the best parts of Exuma without constantly driving long distances.
Another huge selling point was the included beach club access on Stocking Island.
That alone made this stay feel like an incredible value.
The Oceanfront Rooms
We stayed in one of the remodeled oceanfront rooms, and they did a beautiful job updating them while still keeping that laid back island feel. The room felt clean, coastal, bright, and comfortable without trying too hard.
The real star though is the view.
You are directly overlooking Elizabeth Harbour, and the turquoise water outside honestly never stops looking unreal. Sitting on the balcony in the mornings with coffee became one of our favorite parts of the trip.
For couples especially, we thought these rooms were a fantastic setup.

The Best Part: The Stocking Island Beach Club

This is where Peace & Plenty really separates itself.
The resort runs a complimentary boat shuttle throughout the day to their private beach club on Stocking Island. The ride itself is beautiful, and within just a few minutes you are stepping onto one of the prettiest beaches in Exuma.
Soft white sand. Calm shallow water. Beach chairs. Great food. Tropical drinks. Floating in electric blue water for hours.
Honestly, this became one of our favorite places in all of Exuma.
They recently added Aqua Banana floats, which ended up being surprisingly fun and one of those little things that makes you stay at the beach way longer than planned.
The beach club restaurant was also excellent. We absolutely loved the cracked shrimp and cracked chicken. Both were genuinely some of our favorite meals during the trip.
One thing we really appreciated is that you can easily walk down the beach to Chat 'N' Chill from the beach club. You can grab a drink, watch the stingrays swim right up to shore, or order a fresh conch salad made in front of you.
It gives you the best of both worlds without having to choose between beach spots.
Restaurants & Bars at Peace and Plenty Resort
One thing we really appreciated during our stay was that the resort offers multiple dining and bar experiences without ever feeling overly formal or resort-heavy. Everything felt relaxed, welcoming, and very true to the laid back Exuma atmosphere.

Copia Restaurant
Copia Restaurant became one of our favorite spots on property. The restaurant has a bright tropical feel with beautiful harbor views and a menu that blends elevated island flavors with fresh seafood. Their newer dinner menu includes fresh sushi, crispy snapper, roasted lobster, and surf & turf along with breakfast and lunch options throughout the day.
It strikes a nice balance between upscale and casual, which honestly fits Exuma perfectly. You can enjoy an excellent meal without feeling like you need to overly dress up after a beach day.

The Piano Lounge & Bar 1783
Bar 1783 has that old school island hotel charm that feels increasingly rare these days. The intimate piano lounge regularly hosts live music and karaoke nights, while Bar 1783 is the perfect pre dinner cocktail spot overlooking the harbor.
The history here is part of what makes it fun. The bar has welcomed celebrity guests and longtime Exuma travelers dating back decades, and it still feels like a social gathering place in George Town.
Doc’s Bar
Doc's Bar ended up being one of our favorite places to unwind after long beach days. Named after beloved longtime bartender Lermon “Doc” Rolle, this outdoor waterfront bar has some of the best sunset views on property.
It is the kind of place where you sit down for one drink and somehow stay for three.
The Staff Made the Experience Better
One thing that stood out during our stay was how friendly and welcoming the staff felt throughout the property.
And we have to specifically mention Mo and Kevin at the bar. By the end of the trip, grabbing a drink and talking with them became part of our nightly routine. They were funny, welcoming, and made the resort feel personal instead of corporate. That kind of hospitality matters.
It is hard to explain, but Peace & Plenty has that old school island hotel feel where people actually get to know you during your stay.
The History of Peace & Plenty
Another thing we loved is that this resort actually has history behind it.
The property dates back to the late 1700s and later became Club Peace & Plenty in 1958. Over the years, it became one of the iconic gathering places in Exuma and has hosted celebrities, boaters, fishermen, and travelers for decades. You can feel that history when you stay there.
It feels established. Comfortable. Authentic.
Not like a resort that could be dropped into any beach destination in the Caribbean.
Is Peace & Plenty Luxury?
Yes and no.
This is not ultra luxury in the way some Exuma villas or private resorts are. But honestly, that is part of why we liked it. It feels approachable, relaxed, and much more affordable than many Exuma accommodations while still giving you an amazing location and beautiful experience. For couples especially, we thought it hit a really sweet spot between comfort, atmosphere, and value.
Who We Think This Resort Is Best For
We would recommend Peace & Plenty for:
• Couples wanting a romantic but relaxed Exuma stay• Travelers who want easy access to Stocking Island• People who prefer authentic island charm over mega resorts• Travelers wanting a more affordable Exuma option without sacrificing views and location• Boaters and adventure travelers exploring the Exumas• First time visitors who want to stay close to everything in George Town
Final Thoughts
There are a lot of beautiful places to stay in Exuma. But Peace & Plenty ended up being one of those stays that simply felt easy in the best possible way.
Beautiful harbor views. Friendly staff. A fun beach club. Walkable location. Relaxed atmosphere. Incredible water everywhere you look.
And honestly? Some of our favorite memories from this trip were simply sitting by the harbor at sunset with a drink in hand after a long beach day.
We would absolutely stay here again.
